Botox / What is Botox ®? How Does It Affect?

Botox application, which is performed to reduce or eliminate facial lines and wrinkles, helps to gain a young and beautiful appearance. In Botox application, the drug obtained from the bacterium Botulinum Clostridium A is applied to the skin. Botox can be used alone or combined with other treatments. It is a drug obtained by purifying the toxin from a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum by laboratory techniques. This drug has been used medicinally for over 20 years to provide relief from muscle contractions and relaxes the muscles at the injection site for a period of time.

We can say that Botox application is suitable for both health and aesthetic problems.  Botulinum toxin is used in many fields of medicine with botox application, especially in the treatment of wrinkles for aesthetic purposes. It removes lines and wrinkles on the skin by blocking the interaction between nerve and muscle.

What are the Side Effects?

Botox has very few side effects. Bruising or redness may occur at the injection sites. Headache is a rare side effect on the first day of administration. If Botox is applied to a point close to the eyelid, a situation such as a temporary drooping of the upper eyelid may occur. However, this is a rare problem.

In Which Situations Botox Is Not Applied?

Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, those with neuromuscular disorders or bleeding problems, those with herpes and similar skin diseases in the area to be treated should wait for Botox.

How Long Does Botox Last?

Botox shows its effect 3 days after the application. You may feel very tense and swollen at first. This will reach full view after 15 days. After that, its permanence varies between 4-6 months. This situation differs from person to person.

Warnings Before Botox Application

  • Aspirin or drugs containing aspirin should not be taken.
  • Alcohol should not be consumed for a week before the application.

Warnings After Botox Application

  • After the treatment, one should stay in an upright position for 1-2 hours and the injection site muscles should be exercised.
  • For 24 hours, compelling exercise movements should be avoided.
  • It is recommended to avoid showering with hot water, sauna, swimming and exercise for one day.
