It is an operation planned to make the sagging breast more upright and fuller. The accepted view of the ideal breast shape is that the nipple is at the highest point of the breast mass (the peak of the pyramid) and above the fold under the breast. In grading the sagging of the breast (ptosis), how much lower the nipple is from this lower fold is taken into account. In its most advanced form, the nipple is now at the lowest point of the breast, pointing downwards. Sometimes we encounter cases of “pseudoptosis”, which we can translate as false breast sagging. In these cases, although the nipple is above the lower fold of the breast, the breast tissue is clearly drooping below the fold.

In general, it is an operation similar to breast reduction surgery. There is an operation process that takes approximately 3 hours under general anesthesia. Except for the sagging breast, its dimensions and the patient’s expectation can change the size of the surgery. The collection of the sagging breast causes a reduction in the breast. If the patient is satisfied with the breast size or requests an enlargement, it may be necessary to use a silicone prosthesis. Unlike breast augmentation surgery, in lift surgeries, scars remain similar to breast reduction surgery, and the shape of the breast can change within 2-6 months.

SURGERY PROCESS

Before the operation, a comprehensive interview will be made about the operation to be performed, and both your expectations and concerns will be eliminated. Since it will be performed under general anesthesia, a 6-hour fasting and thirst is required. After the routine blood tests and anesthesia examination, if you do not have an obstacle to the operation, the operation will be performed. Your drawings will be made on the morning of the surgery and you will need to stay in the hospital for 1 or 2 nights with 2 drains and bandages after an operation that lasts for 3 hours.

You should use a special bra for 3 weeks after the surgery and avoid physical contact during this process.

KNOWING  REQUIREMENTS

Smokers are in a higher risk group in terms of both general anesthesia and surgical complications.  For this reason, it is important to quit smoking for 3 weeks before and after the surgery.

As in every surgical operation, hematoma (blood collection), infection, wound problems and scarring are problems that may be encountered.
